QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
AI agent authority, explained plainly.
Direct answers about identity, delegated permissions, exact-action checks, recipient verification and what the public demonstration does—and does not—show.
What is Verified Authority?
Verified Authority is an exact-action authority product for consequential AI-agent actions. It is designed to check whether an identified agent may perform one proposed action under current, bounded authority before that action happens.
How is agent identity different from agent authority?
Identity answers who or what the agent is. Authority answers whether that agent may perform this specific action, for this recipient, amount and purpose, under the limits that apply now.
What is AI agent authorisation?
AI agent authorisation, also written authorization, is the decision process that applies permissions, delegation, limits and revocation to a proposed agent action. Verified Authority focuses on binding that decision to the exact action rather than issuing blanket permission.
What does exact-action authority mean?
Exact-action authority means the decision applies only to the recorded action and relevant terms. If a material detail such as the amount or recipient changes, the prior authorisation should not be treated as permission for the changed action.
Can a recipient verify an agent's authority?
The product model is designed so a recipient can check evidence for the recorded action independently of the agent's own description. The public site demonstrates this concept with a fictional purchase order.
Does Verified Authority replace identity, OAuth or access control?
No. Identity, authentication and access control remain important. Verified Authority describes an additional decision at the boundary between an agent being able to reach a system and being permitted to perform a particular consequential action.
Is the public Purchase Order walkthrough live?
No. The walkthrough uses fictional organisations, amounts and inert decisions. It does not issue a real purchase order, send a message, move money or change production authority.
What would a controlled pilot cover?
A pilot discussion starts with one agent, one consequential action, who grants authority, the exact limits to enforce, the recipient that must verify the result and the failure outcome when authority is absent or exceeded.
